(Houston, TX) -- Harris County Judge Ed Emmett says he may return to public service at some time in the future. But Emmett said on Tuesday that his next stop is the private sector.
Emmett, a Republican who had held the position since 2007, lost his re-election bid last week to 27-year-old Democrat Lina Hidalgo, who takes office on January 1st. Emmett says he'll work with Hidalgo during the transition period.
He blames his defeat on straight-ticket voting by more Harris County Democrats than Republicans.
