Those scarlet plush seats are a bit worn....but that means a lot of people in the seats of Jones Hall....the home of the Houston Symphony. That scarlet still makes my heart beat faster, as it did upon my first sight of Jones Hall some 50 years ago.
I was in elementary school in Hallettsville, and we made the 200 mile round-trip field trip to big city culture in Houston. I'll never forget the thrill of my first sight of the white limestone, gleaming wood and bright scarlet seats.
I was thinking about that last night as I took in the KD Lang concert in Jones Hall. All the talent showcased over the years in Houston's gem of a symphonic hall.
