I had this debate in the newsroom, why do these talking digital assistants only give you British, Australian or some annoying American voice, usually female to be your home guru. Give me the tone of a Texan any day…and preferably that low baritone that has long surrounded me.
Apparently, I’m not alone in my preference. A survey has ranked American choice of strong accents and sexiest ones. Texas scored well in both.
I’ve linked you to the study at KTRH.com. Not surprisingly, Boston ranked number one as strong accent, though not necessarily pleasant, followed by the Southern Coast, with Texas tying New York for 3rd place.
But when it comes to sexiest? The rest of America puts the Southern Coastal mush mouth in first place with an 18% response. Texas came in second with 12%. What do they know or really, not know. I’ll always take Texas.
