The sun rose and set in Matt Patrick, certainly for his family and close friends, but also for so many of you. Listeners across state and even national boundaries, political ones too. Because listening to Matt was to feel, that no matter your distance or differences, you were part of his ever-expanding circle and yourself dusted by his always shining outlook and spirit.
That sun rising was literal for me every morning, as I watched golden rays and tinges of pink flood into our studio, casting a glow over Matt’s face, a face already alight with intelligence, humor, compassion, and sheer joy in doing the job. That’s how I see him, now in my heart.
Matt died peacefully in his sleep. He wouldn’t have left us otherwise. Farewell, my Friend.
