Be listening for the NASA announcement of a mission to the Sun. Actually it's a probe that will approach the Sun's surface to within 4 million miles. At that distance, the robotic mission called Solar Probe Plus will face heat and radiation like no other spacecraft before….after first travelling the approximate 89 million miles to get there.
The concept is so thrilling, the numbers somewhat mind-numbing and we’ll soon hear the details of what NASA expects to learn about the solar atmosphere.
The probe is scheduled for launch next summer….July of 2018. We live in amazing times about to become even more so.
