Sometimes public and private lives overlap in delightful ways. So it was for me over the weekend taking in Michael Berry's Redneck Country Club with a bunch of friends in tow. The occasion was the appearance of Tracy Byrd....what a voice, what a band...and what a fiddler in his band. Dale Morris, Jr. is one of legendary fiddler families in Texas and a part of the "family" of musicians who keep the legacy alive.
So having "little Dale" onstage drew Texas State Champion fiddler Carl Hopkins and his fiddller wife Tonya, as well as champion guitar man Anthony Mature with wife Linda and son River, and from Hallettsville Kenneth and Annie May Henneke warming up enthusiasm for the state championship contest coming up this month. I was hanging with my fiddler family and radio family of wonderful listeners too. That is warm!
