NWS Confirms EF-2 Damage From Klein Tornado, EF-1 Damage In Cypress

Some more news today from the National Weather Service, which has given preliminary ratings for the two confirmed tornadoes that impacted Harris County yesterday.

As noted by our tv partner KPRC channel 2, the first tornado, rated an EF-1, touched down at 1:23 p.m. and was on the ground for 2.61 miles before lifting at 1:28 p.m. That tornado impacted the Riata Ranch subdivision in Cypress and had estimated peak winds of 110 mph.

The second tornado, which hit areas in Klein, touched down at 1:41 p.m. and stayed on the ground for 3.83 miles before lifting at 1:48 p.m. That tornado has been rated an EF-2 with estimated peak winds of 116 mph.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported from either tornado.
