Potential Tropical Development in Gulf Later This Week

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance that will make its way to the Gulf of America later this week.

The system is in the Caribbean right now, and will interact with land before making its way into the Gulf. It has a 10% chance of development over the next two days, and only a 20% chance of development in the next seven days.

As for what this means to Texas, and specifically the Houston area, it's difficult to tell. It hasn't developed yet, and will be interacting with land. Forecasters believe the likely outcome is tropical rain.

Keep checking with KTRH throughout the week to monitor this system.
