Phenomenal job reporting from the border by ABC13’s Jacob Rascon.
He reports that thousands of illegal immigrants that were expelled from the US are living in a giant tent city in Reynosa, Mexico “all waiting for Title 42 to be dropped so they can again attempt to cross and ask for asylum.”
Title 42 is the policy imposed by Trump that allows for the rapid expulsion of illegals at the border and blocks them from seeking asylum due to the COVID pandemic.
At the end of March, Biden announced that he would be dropping Title 42 in May.
Illegals attempting to cross border now is at record levels and border patrol officials are preparing for a “huge” increase once Title 42 is dropped next month.
US Custom & Border Protection (CBP) tells Rascon that they are preparing for up to 18,000 illegals attempting to cross the border once Title 42 expires.
The record level numbers CBP are now seeing are around 7,000 a day.
So with Title 42 ending next month, CBP officials are expecting to see more than double the record numbers they are seeing now.
