Some 300 Defendants In Harris County Jail Released Due To Computer Glitch

More great work by Fox 26’s Randy Wallace who brings another disturbing story from the Harris County courts.

As if bond reform wasn’t enough, now criminals are being released because of county incompetence with their computer systems.

The system used for prosecutors called Jweb went down last week.

Thus any defendant arrested from March 24 at around 7 p.m. until March 26 at around 9 p.m. was freed because they did not receive a probable cause hearing due to the system being down.

Didn’t matter if they were facing murder charges, they were released.

Crime Stoppers Andy Kahan says “none of the people who were released are really under any conditions. There's no ankle monitors, there's no GPS, there's no distance requirements, and we don't know who these offenders are."

Kim Ogg’s office also tells us all those released will be re-arrested and have probable cause hearings.
