She didn’t it for attention on social media.
Over the weekend, a woman was seen on video jumping over a barrier to get into a zoo enclosure to feed the spider monkeys.
The footage went viral and the woman was identified as Lucy Rae.
““Stupid and lucky.” Those are the words the director of the El Paso Zoo, Joe Montisano, used to describe the local women who trespassed into the zoo's spider monkey enclosure over the weekend.
"These are primates we're talking about, they could do some substantial damage to you,” Mason Kleist, a zookeeper at facility said. “They may be small monkey's but they can take you to the ground if they wanted to.””
The El Paso law firm that employs Rae as a litigation assistant said they have terminated her employment over the video.
She is likely facing charges as well. The zoo director says they plan on pressing charges against her.
The video of reminiscent of an incident that took place back in March at the San Diego Zoo when a father took his young daughter into the elephant enclosure and was nearly trampled.
Cell phone video showed the elephant charging at the man. He was arrested on trespassing and child cruelty charges.
