Lindsay Graham owns Glamour Salon in Salem, Oregon.
Last week, she defied the Gov. Kate Brown’s order and reopened.
She says she reopened because “everyone’s job is essential, not because what we do or how we do it, but because it’s how we make our living. I have independent contractors that are choosing to work in this facility.”
Lindsay Graham is facing the hefty fine after opening her business and defying the governor’s stay-at-home order. She says her lawyers met with Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials and they will be issuing her a citation early next week.
Since reopening in early May, dozens of people have gathered in support of Graham. She says she will have three days to close, or else face more fines.
“If you can possibly believe this, on May 7 Child Protective Services showed up at my home. They questioned my husband and I, they questioned my child without me present, they searched our home,” Graham said outside her salon on Friday. “And I’ve never expected such a violent, aggressive, vindictive thing could have ever been done to me or my family.”
KPTV reports that in response to Graham, Oregon OSHA says she is “unquestionably operating in violation of the governor’s executive order, designed to protect workers and the public.”
