DOJ’s Kerri Kupec tweeted transcripts of last week’s CBS interview with Barr along with Chuck Todd’s comments on “Meet The Press”. Kupec wrote “Very disappointed by the deceptive editing/commentary by @ChuckTodd on @MeetThePress on AG Barr’s CBS interview.
During the CBS interview Barr was asked by Catherine Herridge how history would judge the DOJ's decision to dismiss the Michael Flynn case, Barr initially responded, laughing: "Well, history is written by the winners, so it largely depends on who's writing the history."
Todd only aired that portion of the clip, saying he was "struck by the cynicism of the answer -- it's a correct answer, but he's the attorney general. He didn't make the case that he was upholding the rule of law. He was almost admitting that, yeah, this was a political job."
However in the full clip, which Todd did not air, Barr then went on to state that he felt the Flynn decision upheld the rule of law, saying “I think a fair history would say it was a good decision because it upheld the rule of law," Barr said. "It upheld the standards of the Department of Justice, and it undid what was an injustice.”
President Trump called out “Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd” for “this fraud”.
The official “Meet The Press” twitter account admitted they were wrong in a response to Kupec. They claim they “inadvertently and inaccurately cut short a video clip of an interview with AG Barr before offering commentary and analysis”.They added that the “remaining clip included important remarks from the attorney general that we missed, and we regret the error.”
Notice how all these “inadvertent” media errors always go one way.
As Sean Spicer points out “Just precious. After being caught by @KerriKupecDOJ for selectively editing AG Barr statement on Flynn @MeetThePress doesn’t apologize but note they “inadvertently” cut short the video. They would slam conservatives as liars if they did they same, when they do it they “update”.
