Yesterday, Dallas police and prosecutors showed up at Salon A La Mode to serve a temporary restraining order to close which owner Shelley Luther told them she will not comply with.
She was served another court order, on top of the $1,000 citation she received last week for refusing to close.
“I will do everything I can to keep the shop open because I’m not closing the store. If they arrest me I have someone that will keep the store open because it’s our right to keep the store open. It’s our right for those women to earn income for their families.”
Texas Republican Congressman Chip Roy tweeted in response to the video of police showing up at the salon yesterday, “This should not be happening in Texas. Again, I would like to know if TEXAS and/or DALLAS are going to compensate (without federal ask for $) this woman for wrongfully taking her livelihood away from her In the name of public health?”
Rep. Roy says that he talked with Luther and she believes the person who complained about her being open is a nearby dog groomer. He adds, “dog grooming is essential, but people grooming is not.”
