Episode 3 of series asks what happened to Don Lewis who disappeared 23-years ago.
His family believes his wife, catlady Carole Baskin, played a role in his disappearance.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister is hoping the popularity of the Netflix documentary series can help shake something loose in the cold case.
On Monday, he tweeted “Since @netflix and #Covid19#Quarantine has made #TigerKing all the rage, I figured it was a good time to ask for new leads.Only you can help solve the Jack “Don” Lewis cold case."
Lewis went missing in 1997.
His van was found at an airport with the keys on the floor. Deputies searched the wildlife sanctuary and flew to Costa Rica looking for leads. They never found him.
In response to the Netflix series, Baskin through the Big Cat Rescue twitter account put out a statement saying “Big Cat Rescue worked w directors of Tiger King in good faith & its sensationalism is disappointing. We understand concerns & remain focused on our mission. We don’t respond to allegations or hateful statements, but monitor for questions about efforts to save the majestic animals.”
