Puerto Rican Protesters Angry Over Newly Discovered Unused Hurricane Aid Bring A Guillotine To The Governor’s Mansion
Last weekend, residents of the city of Ponce discovered “a warehouse filled with water, cots and other unused emergency supplies,” that had been sitting untouched since 2017.
The outrage lead to governor Wanda Vázquez Garced firing several officials including the housing secretary and Office of Emergency Management director, however protestors says that is not enough.
Yesterday they marched at the governor’s mansion as they waved flags, banged on pots, with even carried a symbolic guillotine.
An 82-year-old protester quoted by the Guardian says “we’ve had enough. The people are tired of the abuse ... of the lack of humanity. I am here helping those who cannot be here.”
