POLL QUESTION: Independents and the Red Wave

With the November midterms now less than 2 weeks away, it's that time again. It's the time that we keep hearing about the key 'independent' voters, and the role they will have. Or as former U.S. diplomat says, they're fence-sitters.

"Fence sitters today are really concerned about the state of our nation, obviously" said Stephan Helgesen, author and former U.S. diplomat, "But they're upset about both the Republicans and the Democrats, and have stepped back a pace or two, and by doing that, they make it difficult."

How so? They make it difficult for both parties to truly gauge where this group stands on a multitude of issues. Plus, many of these 'independents' are also 'single issue' voters, who will vote on main issue, even if the candidate has a really bad stance on lesser issues.

"For many years, we've always looked at 'fence sitters' or 'independents' as leaning one way or the other, and that's still true today" Helgesen told KTRH, "If you look at most pollsters, the people who are classified as independents, really lean left or they really lean right."

Unfortunately, and most recently, they have leaned left, which has hurt Republicans. Hopefully, this time around will be different.

"This is very strange midterm election year" noted Helgesen, "So, it's going to be a fun 13 days down to the finish line."
