The number of Americans flocking to Mexico City is rising. Many from California and Arizona move south of the border in 2022 because of the low cost of living and the ability to stay without a visa for up to six months. However, a recent report by the Los Angeles Times claims locals aren't happy about the cultural shift.
“All these people from California are bringing in money, but it’s changing what Mexico City feels like, or what locals are accustomed to,” Ildefonso Ortiz, with Breitbart Texas, said.
The LA Times reports that in the first four months of the year, 1.2 million foreign visitors arrived at Mexico City's airport.
“Mexico has a very deep, rich history. A lot of old buildings, historical buildings that are now being turned into coffee shops and studios to cater to all these Americans that are coming in,” Ortiz explained.
The U.S. State Department says there are 1.6 million Americans currently living in Mexico.
That leads us to the poll question today.
