A tribute to John Labus as he is paroled with 15 years served at KTRH, in the captain’s chair of Houston’s Morning News. John is moving out of radio into the public sector where his writing and organizational skills will reflect well as they have here.
You’ve heard him anchor the news, pretty easy for him since he’s the guy who has written most of it, starting the process hours before Jimmy and I ever hit the microphone. Brevity is the hallmark of broadcast so I’ll have to be brief in this salute by defining John Labus as a man of intelligence and wit. He puts the funny into a job that is not always fun, with the light touch, but rapier incision of truth. It has been a joy for us to work with him as he has always worked so hard for us.
Godspeed and good luck, Friend!
