MSNBC'S Chris Matthews won't be playing 'Hardball' anymore (VIDEO)

We don't have Chris Matthews to kick around anymore.

Last night, the MSNBC started off his show with a bombshell announcement; that he was retiring.

Maybe we should use air quotes for 'retiring,' because it seems pretty clear Matthews was pushed out the door.

Matthews had been under fire, not only for comments that he made about Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, but because of a recent article in GQ magazine by Laura Bassett, who described being a guest on his show in 2017 and was naming him for the first time. Bassett described what she considered to be sexual harassment.

Steve Kornacki took over the rest of the show. Hardball started on CNBC in 1997, and moved to MSNBC two years later.

Check out Matthews' announcement below. You can also read some of the weird things he's said over the years HERE, and more about his 'retirement' HERE.
