The Lt. Governor of Texas calls it a “loophole,” being able to sell your privately owned gun to a so-called “stranger”. Dan Patrick says he’s “taking an arrow” on this one and going against the National Rifle Association support of 2nd Amendment rights.
Patrick claims he’d retain your right to transfer guns within your family without federal background checks. But what about the transfer to friends, hunting companions, former spouses? Just how often do individual, responsible citizens transfer their guns to “strangers?” So the key here is mandating Federal Government involvement in your private property ownership or transfer.It’s certainly a start for those who want the government to oversee every aspect of gun ownership by the law-abiding.
What comes after that? That’s the question we all should be asking, .of each other and every person running for election under our Constitution.
