Call us old-fashioned, but Houstonians are pretty much regular folk. We travel without our peeps, the entourage, the spotlight. We don’t pose or fake it.Think Beto changing a tire, Booker eating a deep-fried peanut butter sandwich
It’s refreshing to get out in our town, where you see Houston notables, luminaries and even politicians acting like regular folk, because they are.
Case in point; longtime Houston businessman and philanthropist Jodi Hoffer celebrating a major birthday at our local hot dog and Frito pie shop, because that’s where he often eats. Was I surprised to see mayoral candidate Bill King right at home there, or baseball great Larry Dierker talking weather? Naw, that’s what regular folk do, especially in Houston.
