Birthdays….count me among the grateful to be able to celebrate one! Mine happens to fall on Alamo Day, which only strengthens the bond I feel with Texas. Made me think about my friend Marita’s Christmas Day birthday. Niece Cailyn and nephew Connor’s Halloween birthday, Mark’s St Patrick’s birthday, each carries some shifted focus for the birthday kid. Now, Susan and Keenan’s 4th of July. I’ve long thought how wonderful to have fireworks every birthday.
As for Alamo Day…again it’s a solemn feeling each year…as Texan. When a friend asked which is more significant to me….I replied that I hope remembering the Alamo is eternal. As for myself, I’m just pedaling as hard as I can to be timeless.
