Two pairs of shoes from pop star Katy Perry's fashion label are being pulled from store shelves over their alleged resemblance to blackface. Retailers Dillard's and Walmart took pairs of loafers and high-heeled sandals from the Katy Perry Collections label off their websites yesterdays. Both were sold in black, and featured blue eyes, a gold triangular nose and bright red lips.
Perry has not responded to the blackface allegation. Designer label Gucci stopped selling a black sweater last week that people said resembled blackface, and Prada came under fire in December for a line of bags featuring monkey-like characteristics that people said were racist.
