Houston a baseball town? In the state noted for football…this city is rapidly rising to the status of entrenched identity…Astros synonymous with Houston….like Yankees New York…or Cardinals St Louis. Any surprise that Astros owner Jim Crane, originally from St Louis, has been rolling us into that since taking over the team.
Giving us World Champions, loyalty to team and team to us, management like Reid Ryan.. and the latest….installing an Astros Hall of Fame at Minute Maid Park. It will be on the left field concourse replacing Home Run Alley. As Reid Ryan notes: there needs to be a spot where team greats are honored. The first class includes players like Nolan Ryan, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Jose Cruz and broadcasters Gene Elston and Milo Hamilton. You know Milo is humming in pride. Ten others will be included and construction starts in March. Salute Jim Crane for what he is accomplishing in our town.
