A natural gas line that was said to be leaking late Tuesday afternoon in La Marque has been shut off while investigators search for the source of a gas smell.
The Duroux section of the city was closed off while a shelter in place order was in effect as the source of the leak was sought.
The area closed included the McKinney Extension and Circle Drive, according to the La Marque Fire Department.
The gas line to some homes is expected to remain shut until the leak can be isolated or fixed along the pipeline.
