Authorities found that a suspicious package was not harmful after some tense moments late Monday afternoon.
A central area of downtown Conroe was evacuated and several streets closed after the parcel was found near the Montgomery County Courthouse.
Officials called for reopening the area about 5-30 pm.
The package was found in a nearby building, the Lee G. Allworth office complex, in the 200 block of Phillips Street, according to Conroe police.
Investigators from the Conroe Police Department are joined by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and the Fire Marshal's office in handling the parcel.
