The Texas Rangers are now investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened Monday afternoon in Galveston.
Galveston Police say the incident happened this afternoon during a basic traffic stop on 55th Street but did not give details on what led up to the shooting. One occupant in the vehicle was hit by officer fire and taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The officer has been placed on modified duty as the investigation continues, which is in accordance with department protocol.
The Galveston County District Attorney's Office will also assist the Texas Rangers in the investigation.
No other details have been released.
