The Department of Justice announced they want to denaturalize 12 naturalized American citizens accused of crimes such as murder, terrorism, fraud, and child pornography. acting attorney general Todd Blanche, on CBS, speaks to claims the current 24 million naturalized American citizens should be on alert.
"If you didn't commit a crime in the way, you became a citizen, I don't think you have anything to worry about, so I don't think it's true that those 24 million citizens are worried. I think there are a very small percentage of them- who are worried- and yes, they should be." Blanche said.
Among the offenders is 48-year-old, Ali Yousif Ahmed of Iraq, who entered America in 2009 claiming he and his family were attacked by al-Qaeda terrorists. in 2019, Iraqi officials asked the u-s to extradite the man for the alleged murder of two Iraqi police officers, accusing him of being a leader in al-Qaeda. Ahmed secured citizenship in 2015.
The DOJ is also seeking to denaturalize 75-year-old Oscar Alberto Pelaez of Colombia, a Roman Catholic priest who pleaded guilty in 2002 to sexually abusing a child from 1998 to 2000, as well as 46-year-old Abduvosit Razikov of Uzbekistan, who in 2005 paid an American citizen to enter into a sham marriage with him so that he could secure a green card.
