Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been rumored to be considering a presidential run in 2028. She’s been a rising force in the Democratic Party since she first won her congressional seat in 2018, and she may have a strong shot at the Democratic nomination.
According to polling from Echelon Insights, Cortez is currently polling in third place with 10 percent support among Democrats. She’s just behind Kamala Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom, who are virtually neck and neck at 22 and 21 percent support, respectively.
What’s more shocking about this poll is the apparent explanation for why AOC is doing so well. The poll indicated that 68% of Democratic voters align themselves more with the concept of “Democratic Socialism” than capitalism.
Former Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX) believes a big reason for this is simple ignorance. “There’s a lot of people who just don’t know what socialism really is,” he said. “It leads to Marxism, which killed more people than any other faith or ideology.”
Stockman went on to say that this is also a prime example of how far to the radical left the Democratic Party has gone. “The tail is wagging the dog,” he said. “The young vote, which is very hardcore left and cheers for communism and socialism, is taking over the party.”
