National Popular Vote Interstate Compact Is The Democrats New Power Grab

The Democrats are always trying to find various ways to squeeze every ounce of power out of the government they can. They will bend judges to their will, use illegal immigrants, virtually anything is on the table as long as it means they get to resume holding their power. So, it should not be surprising that the Democrats in 2026 are finding yet another way to try and subvert true Democracy.

For years, Democrats have stomped their feet about eliminating the electoral college in favor of the popular vote. It really ramped up in 2016 when Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, where Clinton won the popular vote, but Trump won the electoral college. Since then, Democrats have demanded it, with some states making a "pact" of sorts to try and make a national popular vote a reality.

Virginia, under the leadership of new bait-and-switch Governor Abigail Spanberger, recently joined the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Virginia, 17 other states, plus the District of Columbia have all combined forces under the facade of "saving democracy." In reality, it is the first steppingstone to destroying true democracy.

Chuck Devore of the Texas Public Policy Foundation says this whole idea is against every American ideology we hold dear.

"What proponents want to do is get rid of the electoral college by saying a state will assign its electors to the winner of the popular vote," he says.

Let's just play out a hypothetical under this idea. You live in a purple state like Virginia, which tends to swing Republican and Democrat. You are a farmer in the Shenandoah Valley. You, your neighbors, and your state votes overwhelmingly in favor of a GOP candidate in an election. However, because a Democrat wins the popular vote, even though your state voted for a GOP candidate and they win the electoral college, your state vote goes toward the Democrat candidate.

That is utter lunacy and completely degrades the point of voting. Unless, of course, you vote Democrat. So, why would a party, who preaches about saving democracy, take an action that subverts it?

Well, simply put, this is another desperate attempt at grabbing power. Again.

"This is an effort by the coastal elite to grab power by changing the constitution, without going through the trouble of actually amending the constitution," says Devore. "It is blatantly unconstitutional...it is a partisan power grab."

No true American would ever be on board with this idea, and it is no surprise it is only happening in Democrat-led states. Even more shocking, they are all states that have massive issues with voter integrity.

They will hide behind buzz words like "election integrity," and blame Donald Trump for their reasoning. Like they always do. Never me, always thee.

Let's just call this compact what it really is at its core. It is a power grab hidden behind a facade of "democracy."
