Under Democrat leadership, Illinois has pursued aggressive climate policies for years. These policies are now producing the same negative effects seen in other blue states like California and New York. More and more people and businesses are leaving the state for Texas.

A prime example that recently made headlines was the partial owner of Elwood Energy moving two-thirds of the company’s energy equipment from Illinois to Texas, as reported by multiple outlets, including The Wall Street Journal.

Former Bexar County GOP Vice-Chair Kyle Sinclair said this move demonstrates how Democratic policies are hurting blue states while causing red states to grow. “People are voting with their feet,” he explained. “You’re seeing Tennessee, Florida, Texas, and a bunch of other red or deep-red states picking up businesses like crazy.”

Sinclair noted that this trend began even before 2020 and the COVID pandemic, and he expects it to continue for years to come. “There are a lot of multi-million- and multi-billion-dollar industries moving to the state of Texas,” he said, “and it’s becoming a powerhouse.”

Sinclair believes now is the time to double down on pro-business policies in order to continue fueling Texas’s growth. He added that doing so will lead to a massive boost in the state’s influence in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College after the 2030 census.
