Democratic State Representative and candidate for governor Gina Hinojosa may have just accidentally exposed how radical she truly is to Texas voters.

According to reporting from The Texas Scorecard, on a conference call, Hinojosa sided with anti-Israel rioters who in 2024 caused chaos across the UT campus, assaulted officers, and eventually forced the deployment of mounted state troopers to the school.

Hinojosa has tried to pitch herself as a moderate alternative to incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott this cycle, but political strategist Vlad Davidiuk says that jig might be up. “She’s a committed leftist who would do grave damage to our state if she was somehow given the opportunity,” he said.

Davidiuk went on to say that leaning into that radicalism may be her only real way to distinguish herself in the race and build momentum. “When she has that particular platform, she has that particular stage that she’s on, she has to read from that playbook, because that’s what they want to hear,” he explained.

He says unfortunately for her, that might also be the very thing that keeps her out of office, because most Texans still aren’t interested in the brand of radicalism that motivates the Democratic Party.
