Throughout the duration of Operation Epic Fury, President Trump has encouraged nations around the world to buy less oil out of the Strait of Hormuz and do more business with the United States. It looks like that might finally be happening.
According to data from the maritime intelligence firm Windward, as reported by Breitbart News, the number of oil tankers headed for the Gulf of Mexico—specifically to the United States—has jumped by more than 50% on a month-to-month basis.
According to Rey Travino with Pecos Country Energy, there’s one clear reason they’re coming. “We have a surplus of boats from around the world coming to the United States to purchase American-made oil,” he said.
Travino went on to say that this is great news for the American—and especially Texan—oil industries, because they’ll now have more capital and incentives to develop. “We are creating a need for more American oil and more American refineries,” he explained.
He highlighted the breaking of ground on a new oil refinery in Brownsville, Texas—the first new refinery built in the United States in 50 years—as yet another example of this.
Travino added that the icing on the cake is that this shouldn’t cause any more of a spike in your cost at the pump, and says we could even see oil prices dip back down to under $80 a barrel within the next two months.
