Fort Bend County Judge KP George Suspended After Felony Conviction

Fort Bend County Judge KP George has been suspended from his duties, following his felony conviction last month.

George was not present, as Judge Jeff Jones presided over the proceedings in the 400th District Court. The case was filed by Fort Bend County resident Sarah Roberts prior to George’s March 20 felony conviction for money laundering.

Jones appointed Republican nominee Daniel Wong to fill the role. Wong will not officially assume the position until he posts a $50,000 bond, according to the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.

Thursday- speculation George would be suspended due to another case was percolating, but it's not because of his conviction in March on money laundering charges.

This is all over a formal complaint a woman filed, accusing George of having her improperly removed from a public meeting. George's attorney tried to reschedule the hearing.

George did appear in Commissioners Court yesterday, his first time there since his conviction. He will be sentenced in June and is facing between two and ten years in prison.

The judge had already lost a primary last month, ending his run for a third term in office.
