Arrests Made In Monday Morning Houston Robberies

Two men are headed to jail after a police chase broke up what was intended to be a series of Houston-area robberies.

It started with the robbery of a bank about 11:30 Monday morning inside a supermarket along Ella Blvd in Northwest Harris County, the robbers then climbing into a vehicle and heading to a Walmart on Highway 290 at Hollister.

The two men -- joined by another man -- robbed a second bank inside that store and then drove off, this time followed by officers, according to Houston Police.

A chase ensued, heading south and around the 59 Southwest Freeway down to 288, after which the getaway car, a black Chrysler 300, crashed into a tree.

But the robbers weren't finished yet -- they ran and tried to hijack a car near Wichita Street at Southmore Boulevard, but they failed, allowing police to catch up with them and place them under arrest.

One of the suspects was loaded onto a medical stretcher, according to our broadcast partner Channel 2, but there's been no word on his condition or whether any shots were fired in the course of the chase and arrests.
