Gas prices in America spiking recently, with most people claiming it was due to the American military strikes in Iran. Really, it boils down to greed among governments and the pump. Within one day of the U.S. hitting Iran, gas prices surged to over three dollars a gallon. For no real reason. Oil from the region has not been shipped or refined here yet. There was no reason to hike prices that quickly.
Because President Trump is in office, of course Democrats are using the spike in prices to bash the administration. They say he directly caused this by hitting Iran and that all of this was so avoidable. Failing to mention that these prices are comparable, or worse, to what we had under the Biden Administration. So, what is really causing the price spike? That would be the Democrats own policies.
For years, they ravaged the energy sector with ridiculous anti-drilling legislation and in some states, even banning gas stations as a whole. All in some crusade to "save the climate." Really, it does nothing but destroy American energy from within, something President Trump is trying to rectify. But the fight the Democrats are picking is not only a losing one, it is one with themselves.
GOP strategist Jennifer Kelly says their old progressive agenda is what is still driving the price hikes.
"Whether it is the climate change rouse they were involved with, or the high gas tax in states like California," she says.
Let's talk about California a second. Governor Gavin Newsom has been on a social media tirade recently, blaming President Trump for prices as high as $7 a gallon in Los Angeles. But the high prices are his own fault. California gas taxes are currently 71 cents per gallon, highest in the nation. Compare that to a state like Texas, where it is just 20 cents per gallon. Better yet, California keeps raising the gas tax too, in some obscene hope it will help the situation.
Again too, blaming the Iran war for the surge is almost laughable. One day after it began, gas prices started skyrocketing. All out of nothing more than greed.
"It takes time for oil prices to trickle down to the barrel price of oil, then it has to go to the refinery then the pumps," says Kelly. "Much of the high gas prices is caused by Democrats...their 'climate emergencies,' the Gavin Newsom gas tax."
One of now many self-inflicted wounds to a party that has become almost sadistic for it. They keep doing the same thing hpeing for another result, but nothing new happens. It is the very definition of insanity.
So, all of this is just part of their party "platform," if you want to call it that. That is to drive whatever anti-Trump narrative they can, desperately trying to parlay it into votes.
"When anti-drilling policies drove up the prices, you did not hear a peep from them when that was happening...or when their climate initiatives drove up the prices," Kelly says.
We are getting closer to a Democrat epiphany that is desperately needed. They are hating something they created themselves. If there could just be some sense of self-awareness to realize "this is a losing message," then maybe they can win elections again.
