Another day, another round of long lines at Bush Airport. On social media, the airport is telling flyers to plan on more than four hours to get through security as TSA staffing shortages drag on during the shutdown. Officials say callouts from workers are slowing things down across the country, and Houston is feeling it.
Our TV partner Channel 2 found some United passengers are getting a shortcut through a restricted checkpoint in Terminal C. That access seems to be going to elite frequent flyers and premium ticket holders, while others are stuck in those long lines. Airport leaders haven’t really explained why some get through faster and others don’t.
For now, flyers are being told to get to the airport at least four hours early. Many say the long waits and uneven access are adding to the frustration. Officials warn this could keep going as long as staffing remains tight.
