A military veteran is facing capital murder charges after the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says he shot and killed his estranged wife and her elderly mother.
That happened around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon in the 300 block of Shoreview Drive, just east of Conroe. 57-year-old Stanley Earl Hardin rammed a vehicle into the home where his wife and her mother lived. He then got out and shot the pair before fleeing the scene. He eventually surrendered to authorities at his home without incident.
His wife was in her 50s and the mother was in her 80s. The wife called 911 just prior to Hardin ramming his vehicle into the home and again once he entered the home. Police said they believe the wife had just moved out of their home to live with her mother, as they sorted out their issues.
He did not have a previous criminal history. The investigation is ongoing.
