Trump Fires Kristi Noem, Senator Markwayne Mullin To Head DHS

President Donald Trump has pulled the plug on Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

According to reports, Trump was not happy with Noem's comments during congressional hearings earlier this week.

Trump announced on Truth Social that he will nominate Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., to replace her.

“The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well, and has had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!), will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida,”

According to Fox News, Noem, 54, will likely be at least temporarily replaced by Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar, a Navy veteran and former mayor of Los Alamitos, California, in the line of succession for the agency.

Mullin will have to be confirmed as DHS secretary by the Senate, with Trump saying that Mullin would begin serving in that post on March 31.
