A growing wildfire in northeast Houston is keeping firefighters busy near Greens Bayou and John Ralston Road. The Houston Fire Department says about 175 acres have burned and the fire is roughly 30 percent contained, with crews likely staying in place for several more days.
Neighbors in Verde Forest and areas east of Thorn Street and north of Caddo Road should be ready to evacuate if the situation changes. Officials say winds may shift and move smoke farther south. Firefighters are also asking drivers and off-road riders to stay out of the area so emergency crews can focus on containment.
