Hitchcock Mayor Chris Armacost, who is also the Assistant Superintendent of the Hitchcock ISD, was one of those arrested in a large scale gambling operation Wednesday.
The district says Armacost remains employed while it reviews the case.
In a statement to our TV partner Channel Two, the district said, “Hitchcock ISD is aware of the recent arrest of Chris Armacost. He remains an employee of the district as we are reviewing all applicable information. Due to this being a personnel-related matter, the district cannot provide further comment.”
Search warrants were executed at 20 locations believed to be operating as unlawful gambling establishments, including convenience stores, game rooms, and a washateria.
This is a developing story.
