Unless a deal is struck before midnight Friday, we will have our third partial government shutdown since October.
A bill that would have funded the Department of Homeland Security for the remainder of the year has been blocked in the Senate.
This comes just 12 days after the government temporarily shut down due to the passing of the original funding deadline at the end of January.
Democrats have refused to fund DHS due to their unhappiness with President Trump’s enforcement of immigration law. Notably, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) has consistently voted with Republicans to fund the department.
According to reporting from Fox News, the GOP is now planning to attempt a four-week funding bill.
