Two young girls, ages 2 and 3, were transported to an area hospital where they died after being found in a swimming pool at their home Wednesday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived, they found EMS personnel performing life saving measures on the two sisters. Both girls were transported by Life Flight to an area hospital with CPR in progress.
"In reference to the incident on Creek Edge Ct in Katy, I am saddened to share that both toddlers were pronounced deceased at the hospital despite lifesaving efforts. This is a devastating loss for the family and our community. Please keep everyone involved — including the loved ones and first responders — in your thoughts and prayers." Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on Facebook.
The preliminary investigation indicates the two girls lived at the location with their mother and grandparents. According to the sheriff's office, the grandmother had returned home from grocery shopping and discovered the two girls in the pool. She started screaming and trying to pull them out when her daughter and husband heard and joined her to assist, along with at least two other neighbors.
The report says, multiple people were calling for help resulting in several 911 calls about the same incident.
Detectives continue to investigate.
