Officials in the state of Maine confirm that a private jet that crashed just after takeoff was registered to a Houston law firm.
The crash happened just as the country has been undergoing a massive winter storm.
The Federal Aviation Administration said Sunday night that there were eight people on board when the jet crashed.
The crash is reported to have happened about 6:45 Central Time.
There has been no word on the conditions of the eight passengers.
Channel 4 New York says "first responders are on the scene" and the incident is under investigation.
