With another arctic winter blast heading here to Houston, Harris County Officials held a press conference to update their preparations for the weekend.
In addition to freezing rain and freezing temperatures, this weekend's winter storm will also include a hard freeze on Sunday and Monday.
"We ask that you be where you need to be by 9pm on Saturday" said Hidalgo, "I know it's going to be the weekend, maybe you're making plans now? Don't plan for unnecessary travel this weekend after Saturday evening."
That's because of the ice that will be on the roads, with officials warning to stay off the roads.
Harris County is going to begin treating roads for any possible ice on Friday, while TxDOT has already begun treating freeways.
The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Harris County and other counties in southeast Texas, that will be in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon, along with an Extreme Cold Watch from Sunday evening through Monday.
It is important to have a plan, and stay informed.
"Remember to stay informed, the weather information is very relevant" noted Hidalgo, "We'll be on the radio, listen to your preferred news channel. It's going to be really important to stay tuned to our local news."
There will also be several warming centers that will be open around Houston:
