Across the nation—and even here in Texas—left-wingers have fear-mongered about immigration enforcement efforts by the Trump administration, making claims like our “neighbors” are being “disappeared.”
In some cases, they’ve even gone as far as to claim that citizens are being detained and deported en masse, when in truth, immigration enforcement operations have focused on apprehending and deporting the worst of the worst.
Terrell County Sheriff and former Border Patrol officer Thaddeus Cleveland explained the immigration enforcement priorities, saying: “Whether it’s child sex offenders, rapists, people that killed other people in drunk driving or other types of homicides—those are the people that they’re targeting.”
So if immigration enforcement operations are really more akin to standard law enforcement efforts targeting other violent criminals, why have they been so chaotic? Cleveland says it’s because of “the rhetoric at the national level, with our congressmen and senators on the left, and then local leaders who continue to demonize ICE and normalize the violence against them.”
He also pointed out that when law enforcement doesn’t actively target these violent illegal aliens—just like what we saw during the four years of the Biden administration—you end up with American citizens paying the price and falling victim to violence at the hands of these criminals.
