The Democrat Party still doesn’t have a real leader, and now Democrat strategist James Carville is warning Democrats not to focus on—or campaign on—some of their biggest talking points in 2026: gender issues and defunding the police.
Carville’s podcast co-host Al Hunt is even saying Democrats shouldn’t mention the issues at all. Instead of talking about abolishing ICE, Hunt says Democrats should “talk about reforming ICE.” He added that when Democrats talk about doing things like defunding ICE, it just sounds like more open-border policies to average Americans.
GOP congressional candidate Kyle Sinclair, who is running for Texas’s 21st District, says Hunt is right—most Americans aren’t interested in that left-wing radicalism. He pointed out that radical left talking points have already been a disaster for the Democrats: “They have lost election after election, and in 2024, they got slaughtered; it was a red wave. I mean, they lost the trifecta: the Senate, the White House, and the House.”
Sinclair did say that he doesn’t think the Democrats are likely to listen to Hunt. On top of not having any clear leaders, the Democrats also don’t have much to campaign on aside from radical left policies and opposition to Trump..
