Texas Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn are teaming up for a new bill that targets illegal alien drunk drivers.
It's called the 'Stop Illegal Aliens Drunk Driving Act'.
"Which would amend current law by making it an aggravated felony for any illegal alien to commit any level of offense relating to driving under the influence" said Matt Stringer, reporter for The Texan.
And the good news is, even some Democrats are getting behind it.
"It carries bipartisan support, in particular from Democrat Ruben Gallego from Arizona" Stringer told KTRH.
The bill makes sense, it should pass, and it would deny entry into the United States for any foreign national convicted of, or admitted to having committed, acts constituting the essential elements of the aforementioned drunk driving laws.
"For example, there are instances such as here in Texas where we've had examples of illegal aliens who have committed these various different crimes on repeat occasions, and not received heightened sentences for it" noted Stringer.
The question now is, will the bill maintain that bipartisan support, after the recent ICE shooting in Minnesota.
