The new year is off to a violent start across the Houston area.
Five people were shot at a New Year’s Eve party in the Third Ward at a short term rental.
Elsewhere, two people were shot at a massive party at a short-term rental property in north Houston early Thursday morning. This party is said to have been attended by 300 people.
Both shootings come as a new short term rental ordinance goes into effect in the city.
In another shooting, deputies are investigating the death of a man who was found unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound early New Year’s Day at an apartment complex in east Harris County.
No arrests have been made in any of these cases.
